Can I bless a statue?

I bought this beautiful big statue of Our Blessed Mother, however I wasn’t able to get it blessed, because both of the Priests at my parish have been out the past few days going to graduations. Am I able to bless the statue, maybe until this weekend I can bring it with me to mass to be blessed? I would like to have it blessed because I wanna use it to say my rosary. I have a bottle of holy water? Can I bless it, if so what would I say to bless it?

No, you can’t bless the statue, however you can still use it until you can get it blessed.

Well, I guess that you could try to bless it all day long, but to us Catholics…it’s not a blessing unless you are a Priest or Deacon…so…are ya?

I would tend to think no, not a big no-no, just a big oops-oops.

Us converts have had all kinds of those oops-oops moments, well indended gaffes based on invincible or darn-near invincible ignorance…

It’s not blessed since the Church reserves the blessing of articles of devotion to priests and deacons.

However, just use the statue anyway.

No, you can’t bless the statue, however you can still use it until you can get it blessed.

Well you at least have a very clean statue. We can sprinkle objects like the rooms of our homes or cars before a trip with Holy Water. But it’s not the same as the Blessing of a House or a car that is in the Book of Blessings. These can only be done by the person indicated in the book, either a Priest and in some instances a Deacon.

Sure, you can bless it but YOUR blessing is NOT a church blessing nor willing your blessing make it a sacramental. A blessing by a priest, on the other hand, IS a church blessing and WILL make the item a sacramental.
