Can I bring my own Communion to a prayer service?

Monday I am leaving for a mission trip in Jamaica. I am going with a Christian Missionary group and was informed that we will celebrate the Sabbath with a short prayer service…but will not be allowed to leave for mass.

Would it be acceptable for me to bring two in my pyx?
If so, what prayers do I need to say before receiving? (act of contrition?)

Hi Heather,

Actually, you should not have the Blessed Sacrament in your possession unless you are an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist and are bringing it to the sick. The laity are not to communicate themselves.

I would question the appropriateness of belonging to such a group. Why not a Catholic group?
