In planning my funeral, I am attempting to be certain of following the teaching of the Church. With this in mind, I’d like to know if I can have my ashes buried on my own property? If so, what provisions must be met?
The Church does not specify where ashes must be buried, only that the cremains cannot be scattered. Whether or not you may have your cremains buried on your property is a question to take up with your local municipality, which may have laws on the books about where human cremains may be buried.
