Can I choose Saint Pope John Paul II for Baptismal name?

My aunt has been suffering from Parkinson’s disease and she is 70 years old. Before she suffered from the disease, she had expressed her wish to be baptized into the Catholic Church. Since saint pope John Paul II suffered from Parkinson’s disease also prior to his death, I am thinking about choosing the saint’s name to be my aunt’s baptismal name.

Which one is the correct baptismal name?
  1. Pope John Paul II (aunt’s name)
  2. John Paul II (aunt’s name)
  3. John Paul (aunt’s name)

John Paul, simply because she is not a pope and not II
 
Does she like that name, I know a Sister who has taken the name Sister Luke.
 
Yeah, I’m not sure why you’re choosing it for her if she’s an adult. Not that your idea is a bad one, but it seems like you should ask her.

I am confused. Are we talking about baptism or confirmation names? I agree with BoomBoom. Your aunt should be the one choosing.

I’d use her own name as a Baptismal name and John Paul as her Confirmation name. I think that would be more logical.
 
People don’t generally take new names at baptism. Selecting a patron saint is common but not mandatory at confirmation. What is typically done in your aunt’s parish?
 
It’s my guess the 70yo aunt is going to have Baptism and all the Sacraments on the same day. And her neice/nephew has confused confirmation names with baptism
 
You’re probably right. Adults do indeed receive all the sacraments of initiation at once. Still, choosing s patron saint is not a universal custom.

I wonder if the OP or his ain’t have talked with a priest and begun the process of preparing for the sacraments. Choosing a patron saint is pretty minor in the overall schema.
