Then go into the confessinal and confesss the “emails I have been sending” since I find they give a better insight into the type of sin I had been committing… ?

What are Your thoughts please?

Many thanks…

You cannot confess my email, phone or any other device. You have to be in the presence of te Priest. Hope this helps.

If you feel that you do better by typing them out, feel free to type them down in full and then take it with you to confession. You need to be face to face with your confessor. That’s part of the sacrament. You are talking to Jesus. It’s too intimate a thing to do through text and remotely.

No, you cannot use email.

You must say your sins in kind and number in the presence of the priest. You are free to bring your list written down on paper into the confessional and read it to the priest. Ask the priest for advice about any particular sins you are tempted with committing again.

Funny story in that regard:

Several years ago, I had an argument with a woman I knew in another city. I was way over the top, and thought I owed her an apology for my excess. I sent her an email in the wee hours of the morning, and went to sleep.

The next morning, I went to Confession at a local church. I was absolved, and did my Penance. As I left the church, I turned my Blackberry back on. I had one new email. It was from my friend, and began, “Don’t worry, I forgive you…”

Internet confession does not work, just like hearing Mass on TV or the radio does not work.

Email is not secure. However, that is not the central issue. Sacraments are PHYSICAL in nature. Physical hands, physical body and, in the case of confession, physical voice and hearing.

Seems like an easy way of avoiding facing the music. Likewise, no real feeling of the guilt being lifted from your shoulders as you are absolved.

If you had a family member or friend that you had harmed in some way, do you think they would accept your apology via email?

Do we not have a “relationship” with Christ? Does he not deserve, at the very least, the same respect we would afford one of our friends or family members? I think you knew the answer to this already, but it was a good try…😉

my Lord…

I understand your point about confessing sins in person and I know that that is the best way forward.

No discussion.

But on the other hand I believe you are mistaken, if the use of emails helps people to confess their sins, and if the confessor knows who they are from… why should you stop it?

Doesnt mean to say the user will not make a list with it and come to church… it will certainly help.

The logic I am using is from vatican 2. OF which I believe allows those under/ in grace of the protestant Churches to receive a Holy Catholic Eucharist? Am I mistaken? I do not know, God 's Church is universal, but I am glad I have a place to discuss these things…

Of course these things should not be done if they do not possess propper knowledge of the ONe true faith.

God has technology has he not? He invented the television and the mobile no?

Also I am sorry for the neglegance on my part in posting this thread. I pray their be no compromise.

And I do agree, it is confidential. I believe the internet is safe. As long as you have AVAST anti-Virus (home edition) and K9 web Protection.

I understand that their is no substitiute, but what about the simple prayer book…?

Can we please stop asking why. sorry my fault. thankyou.

their is a Spiritual communion outlined in the simple prayer book if you cannot make it to XXX Mass. XXXX
