Does every one realize what a fix we would be in if the " well spring " of ordained priests dried up? Treasure your pastor and every priest, be thankful that you have them now, some day you may not have them. Or you may find yourself in a place where there are none or almost none - the Middle East, or China, or Afganastan, or Pakistan, or some other god forsaken corner of the globe.

Yes, I am just beginning to understand how important they are. And that without them we don’t go to heaven.

Hi there you have been given good advice here but since you do not seem to know yourself would you think of rejoining for another Course of RCIA and buying the Book, Catholicism for Dummies, as a Convert I have one myself, its great as well as the Catechism of the Church .

God Bless.

That is why its so important to keep reading on what the Catholic Church teaches, your not done when RCIA is finished, you still have to keep progressing.
Huh! Of course I need to learn more, thats why I’m here. I have books ready to read just no time though.

So very true. Pray for priests!

I attened few classes pf RCIA years ago in a church (a roman catholic church) just to learn more about the faith. I learned that Nuns can preform the Sacrament of Reconciliation. And I’ve seen a nun go to the confessional before or during Mass, I assum it’s for poeple who couldn’t go on Saturday. I’ve never confessed to a Nun personally, but I found it very strange. Does the Church allow Nuns to preform this Sacrament? And what other Sacrements can they preform?

Thank you
Nuns cannot administer the Sacrament of Reconciliation - but they CAN serve as spiritual directors. A spiritual director is an adviser who assists an individual on his/her spiritual path, but a spiritual director can ONLY hear confessions IF he is also a priest AND has faculties to hear confessions.

Aside:
There is only one exception for all Catholics, and that is if a person is dying and wishes to be baptized, any baptized Catholic can baptize them. However, this applies to everyone, not just nuns.
In the danger of death, even a heretic or unbeliever* may administer Baptism, if they have the intent to do so.

(* Not that either adjective ought to apply to a nun.)

There is a possibility that the nun was an interpreter for a penitent.

That said, the confessional needs to be used for confessions only so no confusion, scandal, arises.
