Can I cut up my Bible?

I read in another thread that a Bible that is no longer usable and not blessed may be thrown away or buried to avoid scandal. However, I was wondering if it would be all right if an unblessed Bible that was unusable were used for a craft. For example: If I allowed my fifth-grade CCD class to cut out verses for a handmade prayer book, would that be all right or not? Thank you in advance for your answer!

While I know of no specific ecclesial legislation that would forbid cutting up a Bible for a just purpose, an attitude of prudence and respect, and a desire to avoid creating a potentially scandalous situation suggests that it is not a good idea. Surely there are other means by which you can obtain Bible verses for your students to use in their artwork. One possibility would be to copy-and-paste appropriate verses from a Scripture web site into a document file, print out the document, and then let your students cut up that.
