then why don’t you learn latin ,greek and hebrew and do it,
And I would add: or become a Priest. Actually, more likely a Jesuit with close to eight years of education. You have to understand the culture and context of the writings as well as know the Greek, Hebrew and some Aramaic. So the cost of the education, round numbers is $30k times eight or something north of $250k with inflation. Then you can do the work for free.

Here’s used one for $4 including free shipping.

Here’s one that I find most interesting:

If you can afford the computer, you can afford paying for a bible.

Must be a democrat. 😃

So the translators weren’t paid the when they completed it (or get paid along the way)? Really?

Do you pay a fee to read it online? If not, why not?

Or how about…if you’ve already bought a hard copy, why do you need to pay additionally to get the same text on each of your iPod, android device, PC, MAC, and linux platforms?

Our “competitors” somehow have dozens of free translations available for every conceivable platform. Why don’t we? Perhaps it’s because we don’t want people to read the bible. After all, that’s why we chained bibles to the lecterns in our churches for so long 😉
…don’t know about the rest of these points (free vs. paid), but I think that you’ve missed the point… years ago there were no printing presses; a hand-crafted Bibles would sometimes take years to create (perfect print by hand, super graphics, expensive ink, paper, and binding, actual gold used in decorative designs, etc…); then there’s the fact that most people were illiterate and, as today, unscrupulous collectors and horders could easily pay for stolen goods with little if any consequences… ah… then there’s the competition mindset: ‘destroy anything Catholic!’

Maran atha!

I haven’t read the Bible in long while, due to circumstance:blush: , but i feel inspired now to read it again. I want to do a good study of the bible from start to finish. However, alot of bibles use old english, and are very difficult to follow. At the moment I’m on my mums computor attempting to copy scripture page for page from an online Bible called New American Bible. It also gives explanations for each passage. But its taking ages. Do you know of any free Bibles i can Down Load that have an easy read translation? I would be most gratefull. God bless.
Well, I recently launched CredoBibleStudy.com/

I think you will find the embedded resources very useful and it works on mobile as well as desktop.

On that website you can also download a desktop version of the software, but it only works on windows. It has much more content than the website.

Enjoy!

I do love “Laudate” for many reasons, including the Rosaries, Daily Readings, etc, but I think the Bible and some of the other portions are only available when connected via WiFi or phone/data. I tried it on the plane, and that’s what it said, anyway.
