No, it’s not so serious as that. Each of us has his own relationship with God. There’s nothing wrong with praying in whatever way is best for us in private prayer. It’s only in public prayer that there are rubrics to be followed. Even in monasteries the brothers/sisters have personal prayer times in which they pray however they wish. We are talking about having a conversation with God, our beloved, our friend. We can talk to him in any way we wish.Then we wouldn’t need a Church would we? Just “do our own thing” as to many are doing anyway. And look where that’s leading us in our society today. Not a road I want to go down. God Bless, Memaw
As for falling asleep while praying, St. Therese of Lisieux used to fall asleep during communities prayers and wrote that being that she was God’s little child he didn’t mind if she fell asleep in his arms just like any other baby who feels secure being held by her father. Lovely image, isn’t it?
