I am going to a wedding this Friday. I know its an obligation not to eat meat during lent on Fridays but since this is a special occasion am I absolved from this obligation?
No; you are not. The way we live should be subject to the requirements of our faith and not the other way around. Our Blessed Lord did without more than meat for our sake on Good Friday. The least we can do is acknowledge this by abstaining from mean on Lenten Fridays. You have a great opportunity to witness to this. I encourage you to do it.
