Over recent times, I have realised that I am basically bad. I generally hate life, and feel angry at God (if there is a God) that He created the universe- in fact, I wouldn’t care if He so much that He created the universe, but I never agreed to exist, and I don’t like it. I feel like I have been dragged into this world against my will.

Yes, Christ died for our sins. But I wasn’t even born then, and I wouldn’t have any sins, except for the fact that someone (my parents, or God) lumped me with this weak body, infected by original sin, which I never wanted. I find it cruel and unacceptable that Christ, innocent, should die for sins. And I found it unacceptable that people should be born at all, against their will, into sin, weakness, poverty and wretchedness. Yes, I know, that this is an ungrateful, selfish, warped attitude.

But more than anything, I fear going to Hell. This life is enough pain for me…

Can I escape Hell? Is diligently keeping the commandments and being a member of the Church enough to escape something worse than this?

I think this is where understanding & accepting love is important. When you accept love perfectly, somehow you won’t complain anymore and start doing good things to people you see needed your help. I’m not saying you should force yourself to help, it won’t be good (Romans 12:9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good).

As for your question, sadly I don’t think you can. We just need to learn to love. Seek people that can make you peaceful & learn more about God’s love.

The short answer is yes. If you keep the commandments and live a sacramental life you will escape hell and gain heaven. When Jesus commanded love he wasn’t talking about mere emotion, but a choice even in spite of ones contrary emotions. If you are willing to try I recommend you start saying the rosary. Our lady will take care of you and bring you to Christ.

You are by far not the first to feel this way, But don’t despair ,it’s really not all bad,
Sometimes we need to try a little harder, because if you want something to happen,
You have to make it happen,

When I was fourteen, I hung a noose to end my life. I had a pretty bleak disposition, and I hated myself to the very core. Receiving the sacraments and prayer are what got me through it.

You’re in my prayers, my friend. May the light of Christ dispel the darkness that you’re experiencing.

Shalom

Once a person is in Hell they can never escape but while still alive they have until their dying breath to escape going to Hell.

Hell yes!👍 There are a lot of people, faithful and unfaithful alike that hate themselves, hate the torments of their lives, hate the miserable people that infect their world with their pathetic little concerns. I know, I am recovering from that mentality. I pray that you find mercy and forgiveness, forgiving oneself is probably one of the hardest things to do in life. I am here as a testament to the love and forgiveness of my family, despite the shame I may have brought them. You need to find someone in your life who is faithful, not pushy, someone who would make a great companion, doesn’t matter if they’re a woman or a man.

Perhaps it is not life you hate, but rather that which is wrong within our lives. Sin.

No one gets through this life without suffering. We don’t like it, but we all must endure it as part of our human condition and as a result of Original Sin. If you can find value in your suffering and stop looking for a trouble free life, you may actually begin to see the beauty of life. The peace that can come, the serenity in the midst of chaos, the purpose when all seems to be against you.

Life is not about everything being nice and sweet and friendly all the time. It is about learning to be self disciplined, persevering, patient, kind, forgiving, accepting and giving up of ourselves for the benefit of others. It is not about having our way, but rather about giving up our way, putting others first, responsibility, trust and faith. Being “happy and satisfied” when all is well means nothing. Being a source of hope, and joy and comfort when everything you hold dear is being challenged and even destroyed, means everything.

Jesus is the remedy! Meditate on His Birth, Life, Passion, Resurrection, and Ascension! (It’s easy to do that with the Scriptural Rosary, with our Blessed Mother…she knows Him so well.)

The Lord who created this entire universe out of nothing loves you infinitely and desires that you receive His Life and total happiness for all eternity. Learn to pray much and the Holy Spirit will enlighten you.

I suggest you start praying on God’s mercy for us. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is a great place to start.

You might meditate on the Passion of Our Lord. I think the movie “The Passion of the Christ” is a great way to do so.

Spend some time in the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. You don’t have to do anything special. Just kneel in the Lord’s presence.

All of these devotions help. Also, find a ministry. Start praying for people here on the CAF forum. You can learn all sorts of prayers. And when you pray for others, you can find burdens lifting from you.

Of course, the sacrament of reconciliation is another way to reconnect with God. Our Heavenly Father is waiting for us to join him in prayer. If we take one step toward him, he’ll take 20 towards us.

God bless you. I know you can find your way.

Yes, life is difficult, because or original sin, etc., so we need to be patient, tolerant, self-denying, in order to escape Hell and reach eternal peace. I understand and accept that. The problem is, when I look into my soul, I don’t LIKE this system. I feel like I was born to be bad, so when I make the effort to be good (which is pretty much all the time), I am secretly angry and resentful.

Sure, I relate to Christ. But He got pretty rough deal from God the Father, it seems. Worse than what we did.

Sorry, I feel that nothing would have been preferable, than this life, and big chance of eternal fire, and a small chance of eternal ‘peace’. Nothingness would have assured us all of eternal peace, forever. Sorry, God. But there is it.

Anger and resentment are emotions. You can’t help but feel them, but you can choose whether to accept them.

Eternal fire and eternal peace aren’t a game of odds. If you do X you will have eternal peace, and if you do Y you will have eternal fire. The difficulty in doing good has already been accounted for which is why we have confession and the other sacraments to strengthen us. Sure Jesus didn’t have it easy, but he always had the choice. If he had called then legions of angels would have come to his defense, but he chose to die for us as an example of the obedience which brings life everlasting. Regarding whether or not it is better to be or not to have been: that isn’t our call and it doesn’t help us to get worked up over things we can’t control and at the very best of times could only partially understand.

If you want to escape hell, love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength, and your neighbor as yourself; pray fervently, and often; have a strong devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to the Blessed Virgin Mary, recommending yourself to her when you pray your rosary; pray the rosary daily to know the truth, for contrition and for salvation, and for all your other needs and intentions. God bless you.

You think you got it bad. Nearly everyone I know and am related to is not a Christian, so what is going to happen to them? I suspect hell is a tool to frighten and control people, and if a real place not a place or fire and agony. Or is that just wishful thinking on my part 🙂

St. John Paul taught: “Rather than a place, hell indicates the state of those who freely and definitively separate themselves from God, the source of all life and joy. This is how the Catechism of the Catholic Church summarizes the truths of faith on this subject: 'To die in mortal sin without repenting and accepting God’s merciful love means remaining separated from him for ever by our own free choice. This state of definitive self-exclusion from communion with God and the blessed is called ‘hell’.”

Many people say demons are in Hell, so if they can escape it and come and go as they like, I imagine humans could too, but Im assuming these kinds of details are things no one alive could possibly know or even understand.

IMO, Satan and the demons are not yet in Hell, I dont think this happens until after the second coming, right now, they are trapped on earth, but on another ‘plane’ obviously…it does beg the question though, of what or whom is inflicting torture on those human souls in hell, if no demons or satan is even there yet though? I dont understand that.

I think the main thing to remember about hell is…it was created SPECIFICALLY for satan and the other fallen angels, as their place of binding and punishment. God tells us why hell was created right there in the bible.
