Am I allowed to have a tattoo? I would like one of a crown of thorns and I would put it on my shoulder. But I am not sure if this is permitted in the catholic church.
The Church has no specific teaching in regards to tattoos. It is essentially viewed as a morally neutral act whose morality depends upon content, context, and circumstances. As long as the tattoo is a word or image that respects modesty and the intention is good then there is nothing inherently wrong with it.
