In many forums, a certain question emerges again and again:

Stupidly enough countless esoteric-forums answer this question positive. According to these, getting in touch with our guardian -angel is ever so simple and natural, which of course is monkeyshine!
Just see only some of the countless esoteric-answers by any simple Google-search like:

It’s monkeyshine, 'cos anyone of us who’d get into personal contact with his guardian-angel as easy as esoterics think, would of course simultaneously be in direct and close contact with heaven itself and consequently with God. Then any doubts would be kind of impossible; belief - instead of Esoteric trash - would be the rule and commonly natural.

Belief remains behind the barrier of temptation for doubts. God permits temptation - see the Book Job. Without temptation, no probation. The omnipresent challenge in fact is easy to overcome, however within reach and speciously. It even seems more real than belief. God created and put us for noviciate for God’s realm, into this material world, because a gratis-heaven without any moral parole, would contradict God’s righteousness. Even the Angels passed a strong consideration. To simply “have” and own without any worthiness at all, would not be in alignment with God’s infinitive absolute justice and then be in any way and altogether valueless.

The fact that every single human being has got his own guardian Angel - provided he didn’t dislodge his Angel - is clear from Jesus word in Mat 18,10; See that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I tell you that in heaven their angels always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.
And the opening question; CAN I GET INTO PERSONAL CONTACT WITH MY GUARDIAN ANGEL? Basically yes, but It only was granted to very few Saints…

Here is a common way Catholics personally contact their respective guardian Angels :

In the name of the Father,
and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.

Angel of God,
my guardian dear,
To whom God’s love
commits me here,
Ever this day,
be at my side,
To light and guard,
Rule and guide.
Amen

This version of the prayer was copied from EWTN which pretty well renders it both *esoteric-free *and monkeyshine-free.

Why would God have assigned a Guardian Angel to you if there was to be no communication between you? He is your friend, your protector. You may never see him during your earthly existence, but you can count on him to be ever present. Talk to him daily. Picture him taking your prayers to God. At the moment of death he will surely be at your side as guide.

Umm, use caution please. From what I have heard the Vatican doesn’t encourage it, as you can accidently get into contact with dark spirits.
 
I see many catholics here simply take out ads in the newspapers to do this.
I am sure the angels read them too.

I know that prayer, but I’m not sure if this commonplace prayer equals ‘personal contact.’

Asking for help from heaven will never be a source of contact with the dark spirits. In fact it will reinforce your defenses against them. The devil will, of course, continue to trick you into believing his evil is good, but if you’re petitioning heaven, via your Guardian Angel, don’t fret about the devil. You’re in good hands. The more you’re in contact with your own Guardian Angel, the safer you will be. Don’t we encourage the “buddy system” for safety purposes here on Earth?

Extreme Caution is ALWAYS ADVISED in anything that may lead to interaction with the devils in hell - they pass the ‘dark’ stage a long time ago! But, I think you are in error here about the Vatican not encouraging us being attentive to our protecting spirit - our Guardian Angel.

The prayer to our Guardian Angel that was previously posted is an excellent example of communicating with our protecting spirit.

I think what we are to totally avoid in staying away from the devils is willingly associating with those who claim to be witches, wizards, fortune tellers and playing with ouija boards or other such devices as to enlist the aid of the devil in anything we may consider to do. All of these things are strictly prohibited for Catholics.

The devil exists. The devil has real power. And the devil is a creature who rebelled against God and is being punished for his sinful actions. God has existed from all eternity, the devil was created in time. God is All Powerful; the devil has only the power God allows him to have. If we choose to follow this fallen creature, we too will be punished for all eternity - first off, with the loss of God, secondly with the torments of fire and thirdly from the ridicule, contempt and torture of the devils who are higher order spirits than us.

While having one’s Guardian Angel communicate with them is a rare event - we can and should say a prayer of Thanksgiving to God for His Goodness in sending us these protective spirits.

I have my guardian angel’s cell number, so personal contact is pretty easy…that’s normal right? 😛

Yeah. Sorry - it was intentional - being a little facetious (emphasis on “monkeyshine-free”).

We could call it a starting point. The Curé of Ars called prayer , “conversation with a friend.”

Point of the thread is: “Can we get into personal contact with our Guardian-Angel?” Whether or not we can get into same spiritual AND ALMOST PHYSICAL contact with our Guardian Angel as some Saints did, so Zachary, St. Francisca of Rome, Padre Pio and many others. Or even really physically as Jacob who was wrestling with his Angel, or St Peter who was freed our of prison by His Angel.

A Guardian Angel is - not quite like an Arch-Angel, who is a very mighty knight of Heavens, but still anything but a soft and weak feminine pixie, af too often pictured in silly Guardian-Angels paintings. Some even say; “My Guardian Angel looks like…” and name some movie-star.
HE DOES NOT, as an Angel is a mighty knight of God, not to be matched with any human being - even though our Guardian Angel is supposed to look rather similar to the Person he is guarding. Let’s always bear in mind the absolute and unmatchable grandeur of any Angel.

Our Angel bears no blame if we fail, because of our free wills. Their powers over us are limited, otherwise we would not have to either believe, or repent. But as the Angel’s will is of course both - love to God and love to “his” human, and certainly the Angels pride is to lead “his” human to God; - when then this silly human steers to hell, however strongly the Angels tries to hold his steering-wheel, it must be terribly sad for the Angel.
Their nature was changed forever when they exercised their free will and made their choice to serve or reject God.

Surely Angels at all times had a free will, from their creation on and surely they lived eternities before this rebellion of Lucifer’s Legions, in real love and peace and harmony. Humans too sometimes had “Golden Ages” like in Rome, the time of Emperor Augustus. Then, times changed 100%

Jesus Christ, Angels, and we too - none ever is or was forced nor as some say “Angels are programmed” to do God’s will. All mentioned did so of their own free will. Jesus did so out of love to His Father as to all humans. Angels do so, because God’s will is good and never to anyone’s disadvantage. We do so, as soon as we got deep enough into belief, to recognize, that doing God’s will is for our own benefit - meaning to realize, God’s will is pure love itself.

Now the personal contact to our Guardian-Angel, does not mean, that some Saints had morning breakfast with their Guardian Angel across the table (worldly speaking).
Those Saints who where worthy enough to see their Angel, from time to time had the privilege, to in certain questions of belief and devotion, even see their Angel actually in our “worldly” physical way. That’s „personal contact“.
And “worldly” in this connection is a term meaning: “The way, we in every-day life would normally expect things to be – as we keep relativizing”. “Relativizing” designates the way of our understanding. Any child (and even animals) and anyone of us, when seeing something what so ever or hear what so ever, at first match (relativize) the seen or heard with what we know.
For instance: We see a new fruit we never saw before and even don’t know what it is. Now we start relativizing (matching) with the fruits we know and we’d think - well, it looks like a …, so; I spose it is even eatable and will taste like …! A dog for instance relativizes whatever he intents to eat with what he knows and had before, by sniffing on it.
Our Pope often warned of relativism in belief. It’s evil, because it makes divine things profane, and matches them with givens with the conclusion, that others (divine conditions) are impossible.

Personal contact with our Guardian-Angel here; is to fathom and at same time try to answer the FAQs: “How near we can get our Angel?”

Either; - simply relaying on him doing a good job, such as helping us ANONYMOUSLY against temptation.
or; - knowing that he’s with us, and so we are able to speak to him at any time, asking for help
or; - sometimes even being touched by him, like being nudged by a friend before we commit a faux-pass
or; - feeling his presence as a warning, before we commit something stupid
or; - and finally; even being allowed to see his presence dimly or even clear - as Saints did as certain circumstances.

My nearest contact to my Angels was, when I lay on that operation table for heart catheters. I suddenly laughed. The docs asked me; why for heavens sake are you laughing in this situation??? So I answered truly: Oh, I just said to my Guardian Angel; “here you are, that’s how you feel, when you are still merely human” 😃
But I of course did neither see nor hear him – but indeed felt his absolute presence.

I know my Guardian Angel has been putting in a lot of long hours … and, yes, they have not always been appreciated! But, I am so thankful to God for having given me my Guardian Angel! 🙂
