Can I get this tattoo?

I’ve wanted a tattoo for a while and I already talked to the priest at my church to make sure it was okay. He told me that as long as it wasn’t anything negative that it should be fine. My only question is, can I get a tattoo with a saint or saints name or is that considered to be worshiping the saint instead of God? The saint I was thinking of is Saint Rita the patron saint of impossible dreams which is my saint name I picked for confirmation. I have also thought about getting something with Micheal the Archangel as well as the angel Gabriel. I just wasn’t sure where the church stands on this.
 
I fail to see how having a tattoo of a saint would be worshiping the saint. 🤷

I could very well be wrong, but considering you already talked to the priest I would say you have nothing to worry about.

Why do you want a tattoo?
The church has nothing official on this, either way.
But you sound a bit scrupulous.
I’d hold off if I were you. If you have a devotion to a particular saint, then just pray with them. 🤷
 
For those wondering why I want the tattoo its for personal reason. I’ve dealt with many things over the years from bullying in high school to my college volleyball coach abusing us mentally, physically, and emotionally. I’ve lost more people in my life to sicknesses like cancer than I care to think about and on a good day my faith is shakey at best. I want something to remind me everyday that even when I hit my lowest I was strong enough to fight back and get myself back on my feet and that my faith, though it is struggling, is still a part of me. I don’t want it as graffitti on a cathedral. I want it to be more like a stain glass window that reminds you of the beauty in this harsh world when the sun hits it just right.

But a crucifix on a chain will do the same for you.

if the priest says it’s ok and you want it, go for it…I personally have 5 tattoos and one of them is of a cross with vines and flowers trailing on either side of it across my lower back…does it make me less of a Catholic, I don’t think so…does it make a better Catholic…nope…do they make me happy, yes…
 
Under the Old Covenant it was forbidden.
RSV translation – Lev.19:28 You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh on account of the dead or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
