Can I go to communion even though I haven't gone to confession?

I go to church on Sundays and go take communion. I haven’t been to confession in a long while and was wondering if that’s okay? It doesnt’ feel right for me to take communion without having gone to confession but that is most of the reason why I go to church. I love to sit and listen and know that for atleast a little while, I will have Jesus all to myself. Am I sinning by not going to confession first?
