Yes, you’re right. The first time can be on any occasion: bedside of a sick relative, Liturgy of the Word, Liturgy of the Hours, etc. Second time may only be at a Mass in which you’ve participated – no running in at the end to stand in the Communion line.
Also as long as all the usual conditions apply. Fast for one hour before receiving each time (does not apply to sick persons or those caring for them), be properly disposed, etc.
