Can I have a hysterectomy for medical reasons?

This is in response to Marcus T’s question about a vasectomy for medical reasons. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in 2006 and had a laprascopic hysterectomy. Would this sort of “medical sterilization” be moral?

In your case, this was not a “sterilization,” which implies that sterilization was the means or the goal to the treatment. Your uterus was removed as a treatment for cancer, with the unintended result that you were *left sterile *(as distinguished from “sterilized”).
