My mother has recently asked me to move my sister out of her current house and in with her boyfriend. I believe it is wrong for my sister to live with her boyfriend. My mom and my sister know this. Is it not also wrong for me to help her move in? If so, would that be a mortal sin on my part? My mom doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with me doing that. I want to help out my family, but I don’t want to do anything sinful in the process. Maybe just helping her move out of her current house would be okay?

Assisting your sister in living an immoral lifestyle is, at the least, scandalous. It gives others the impression that you think her immorality is okay. I can only recommend declining to assist your sister in moving. If it makes you feel better, look at it this way: Just as it is good to be “pro-choice” when the choices are presented are morally good or morally neutral and bad to be “pro-choice” when the choice you are defending harms another person, so “helping family” is good when it involves helping them along on the road to heaven. When they ask you to assist them in living immorally, they are really asking you to help them along on the road to hell.
