Can I keep a broken rosary?

I want to keep my first rosary. It is old and it is not in good shape. The beads are plastic, at least half of them have fallen off over time, and the crucifix is detached from the rest of the rosary. I use another rosary to pray and I’m sure I won’t use my old rosary for prayer since many of the beads are gone, but I still want to keep it because of its sentimental value to me. So I am wondering: Am I required to dispose of the rosary because of its condition? Would I need to try to repair it as much as possible to keep it?

You’re free to do whatever you like with it. If you want to make it functional again though, you might ask an experienced rosary maker to restring the remaining beads and crucifix, along with replacement parts, into a “new” rosary.
