my friends in Christ,
you are all right. i haven’t talked to my priest, but i don’t want to be re-baptized. i’m sure that i can’t be re-baptized as well. no need to ask the priest for this one basic thing.
i have a friend who will get married in 3 weeks, he is protestant, his girlfriend is catholic. the protestant denomination is different with my bf’s, but their church can allow marriage without the baptism thing, they only couldn’t do it in the church, they can do it in the restaurant. the girl wants to have a holy ceremony in a church (she’s fine with catholic/protestant church, as long as it’s in the church). so what happens is… they will get married in a catholic church. although well, his father isn’t a protestant minister, while my bf’s father is.
but what i think is, their church can allow the mixed marriage, but the guy still wants to get married in a catholic church, for his future wife.
i cannot be re-baptized, i won’t! if my bf can accept it, then maybe we can stay together. but if he can’t, then either he or his church is selfish. i don’t want a husband whose faith can’t respect my religion!
besides, it’s more their fault than mine. i’ve told them from the very first time (even before we became boyfriend and girlfriend) that i’m a catholic. his father, as a protestant minister, should know that they won’t allow mixed marriage without re-baptism. what made they think this relationship can be started at all?!!!
my boyfriend maybe a victim too here, because he doesn’t really understand either. but his minister father and grandfather should know. they should tell me from the first time!
their rules don’t allow them to marry in a non-protestant church either. catholic wants to give dispensations, but they don’t want to open the door at all!
it’s all still being discussed between us and our families, so this not the final decision yet. but 1 sure thing, i’ll never get re-baptized!
thanks all for the catholicism knowledge and for all your support. God bless u all
