Can I miss mass on this holy day?

Hi,

Today is the feast day of Saint Joseph and a holy day in Spain, the country I live in. My husband is working tonight so I will be alone with my 2 and 5 year old. It is pouring rain as well. I don’t want to create an excuse not to go to mass, but the idea of dragging my kids through the rain to go to a mass by myself that starts around their bedtime is not ideal. I did take them to school today and may drop off my daughter at ballet. Am I exempt or am I just being lazy? If anyone could answer it would be very helpful since I have to go in a few hours.

Also, I am not 100% that the church I’m going to has mass at the time I think. If it’s not then I have to go to another church that starts another hour later. If I DO go to church and it’s not open do I have to wait an hour with my kids in the car to go to the other mass?

Why not call the churches in question, or look on their website, to confirm times. You may find an earlier Mass.
 
Spaun isnt as advanced with internet and most churches dont have their own website. If they do mass times are often wrong especially on holy days.
 
I imagine they do have telephones, though, although it’s getting a bit late in the day to call.
