Can I pray a novena whenever?

I’m trying to get back into praying every day, and want to start praying novenas since I’ve never done so before. But I was wondering if there are only specific days in which I could start a novena. Can I just start one on any random day and pick any random novena I feel like? Or are there specific days and rules on which novenas can be prayed only?

It is a prayer, not magic. You can start whenever you choose.

When Novenas are used in conjunction with certain dates it;s because they’re prayed concluding with a Feast Day of the particular Saint you are invoking, that’s all.
But your prayers are encouraged any time you feel compelled to begin.

Pray any prayer any day you like. Start any novena any time you want. There are no hard and fast rules…except pray without ceasing.
