Can I pray Hail Mary while going to bed for the dead and close friends

Sometimes when laying in bed I pray Hail Marys and our fathers for the dead and close friends and family , I don’t know if this is proper but I was told to pray our fathers and Hail Mary to shorten the time souls spend in purgatory , I’m sorry for posting a dumb question like this . I thank you all for your time
 
More than appropriate. It is a prayer of mercy and charity. Do continue. Peace.
 
Indeed you may do this. 🙂 It is good and right to pray for the dead, to help them leave Purgatory sooner.
It is also good and right to pray at any time, including while you wait to fall asleep.
 
Please by all means continue !!! 🤣 I used to pray the rosary while waiting to fall asleep.

I was told - that if we fall alsleep - in the middle of a Rosary - our Guardian angel will finish it for us ! 😇
