I begin the RCIA and will not be entered into the church until the Easter Vigil of 2009. Can i pray the rosary now or do i need to wait untill i am entered into the church as a Catholic.

The Rosary is a devotion. You can pray it. Protestants pray it.

My husband started praying the Rosary (and making Rosaries) several years before we even started looking into Catholicism. (We were evangelical Protestants.) We are convinced that the Rosary is one of the reasons we are Catholic today (and also our daughter).

Anyone may pray the Rosary–it is a sacramental, and so one does not have to be Catholic to make use of it (this is different from a sacrament–sacraments impart grace, sacramentals dispose us to receive grace). Since you’re awaiting initiation to the Church, the Rosary would be a beautiful way to properly dispose you to the reception of the graces you will receive at the sacraments of initiation.

You’re in my prayers–welcome home!
