I am a cradle Catholic revert, not Confirmed. My marriage is not yet valid in the Catholic Church. My husband is getting an anullment from his first wife. So far it has been approved and we are only waiting on the final paperwork so that our marriage can be blessed within the Church. Once that is done I will be Confirmed. I have already taken the necessary classes and gone through the process for adult Confirmation, we are simply waiting on the final annullment papers.

If I stop having marital relations with my husband (only for now) and go to Confession, can I still receive the Eucharist?

Confirmation is not so much the issue but rather the invalid marriage.

Give the Catholic Answers Apologist line a call and discuss the matter with them…there can be various aspects involved (not only what you mention but also any potential scandal). They can get more into the question with you.

Generally speaking, yes. But this needs to be undertaken under the guidance of your priest. He is the person you need to ask, not us.

This question is best taken up with your priest. Here you will get opinions. Your priest can give you a solid yes or no.

God bless

I am surprised the canon lawyer you dealt with did not go over these things with you. I would call the office handling your annulment and see if the priest there has something to say about it.
