Can I receive only from the chalice?

Is it proper to receive only the precious blood at communion. Sometimes the Eucharistic ministers run out of consecrated hosts at big events in our Cathedral.

While its not ideal, there is nothing wrong with it. Whether someone receives the host or from the chalice, both species contain the fullness of Christ’s body, blood, soul and divinity.
Ideally there should be enough hosts for everyone to receive, but occasionally it happens that a particular celebration will run out of hosts. In such a situation the persons who receive from the chalice receive the same sacrament as those who received the host.
