Is it a sin to refuse to participate in the Census 2010 because of objections over its offensive questions?

Not yet having seen the census or its questions, I do not know what you consider to be “offensive.” In any event, if it is possible to answer inoffensive questions and leave “offensive” questions unanswered, that is preferable to refusing to participate altogether. Census results are used for important civic purposes, most notably for accurate representation in Congress. There are also a number of helpful side benefits, such as contributing to the genealogical record for descendants.
