Can I take Communion after divorce & remarraige?

I divorced about 25 years ago, and have been remarried for 22 years. I anm a Catholic and my husband is Baptist. I recently (about 5 months not) started going back to church going to mass. I stopped going to church because I felt the chruch (since I am not allowed to receive communion) turned its back on me because of my being divorced. Never did my faith in God waver. When I go to church I get so overwhelmed with emotion listening to the Gospel and knowing communion is not something I can participate in. Please help me to understand why I can’t have communion? I am a good Christian woman.
