Can I use indian incense at home? I love the smell of frankincense. But the only catholic store that sells it, is way to expensive. As a college student i dont have money. So i went to look for incense and the only thing i found at Walgreens was a package that was indian incense. I got home and realized on the package it says “money house blessing” ew! But it smells so good! Can I still use it? I dont know! I just want the smell! If not then can I use incense in general? If so where can I find some that is cheap under $5??

I guess the issue here would be putting other strange gods before the one true God. Since you just want the smell, it’s fine.

Relax. You’re just using it for the scent, not in a religious ceremony. You don’t need to buy incense from a specifically catholic store.

My own rule of thumb is to not buy anything with the name of a Hindu god on it, or something that seems religious to other religions, or with “chakra” anything on it.
My fave is dragons blood incense.
But partly it’s because the head shop where I buy my incense is run by an Indian man and I don’t want to culturally appropriate. Also because I don’t want to give the impression of worshiping other gods.

We’re indian so we have some indian incense. Only difference is that my grandmother uses the incense around the house while she prays to God and Mary.

So similar actions and everything, but Christian prayers.

Wow thank you! I just want the smell not so much the “money blessing” lol as it says on the box. But thank you so much thats so good to know

I think the OP is referring to incense with a picture of an American Indian chief on it, not Asian Indian. I’ve seen this before. The incense (and related products) seem to have no clear connection to Native American culture, it’s just a logo (and, you could say, cultural appropriation).

Meh. It’s inconsequential to me. I buy stuff at Earthbound Trading Co. and don’t believe in Hindu gods or goddesses. I also drink the occasional Starbucks latte and don’t believe in mermaids. So long as we’re not worshipping idols, they’re just objects.

Agreed, it looks like it’s from a company in New Jersey that makes “spiritual products”. Nothing to do with India or Hinduism.
