(though of course some have to work…like Doctors etc…)

Your right as I pointed out some do by necessity have to work

Those through necessity who have no choice but to work do not incur sin upon themselves.

Such jobs are not limited to Nurses, Doctors, Firemen, and Police Officers.

I remember when many U.S. States and Canadian Provinces once had a Day of Rest Act for Sundays. With the dawn of Sunday Shopping stipulated and approved by government laws has made Sunday as just an ordinary day of the week in the commercial business world.

I certainly didn’t approve of this over fifteen years ago. And I remember the Catholic Church and many other Christian denominations making a big contention about this to no avail.

The commerce world lobbied and pressured governments to get rid of the Sunday Day of Rest Act.

But not unlike the Abortion issue as usual to many citizens along with Catholics and other Christians were too indifferent for not having a bigger voice to oppose it.

And so here we are today, chocking and feeding on the result of this legacy.
Bottom line as a whole we have nobody to blame but ourselves collectively.

But I still believe in Keeping the Sabbath Holy. And you wonder how families have eroded over time when there were families who once cherished the tradition of gathering after Mass on Sundays. I still honor this tradition. Some sadly cannot.

Please note that August 15th (Assumption), November 1st (All Saints) and December 8th (Immaculate Conception) are days of obligation in the US. And, if at all possible, you should make plans to take those days off (including, if money is an issue, setting aside a little bit each week so that it won’t be too much of a hardship when the day comes up).

I’m lucky that I live in a province where Good Friday is a statutory holiday but Thanksgiving isn’t – at least it isn’t for the average Joe, but unionized workers usually have it in their negotiated package and some employers do give it as a paid holiday.

Have you ever heard the old axiom (“Those”) or the proverbial wheel that squeaks the most gets greased? Few people readily take note that those people who squeak most are BIG minority groups with a far greater voice and power than the Silent Majority who indifferently sit on their duffs and say hardly anything.

Hence; we see Sunday shopping, Abortion, Same-Sex marriage and the whole immoral lot approved by governments. Go figure!
