“How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.” (Eph. 3:3-5)It can be reasonably drawn out from the scripture that Jesus is God. There are so many themes in the New Testament that on a basic reading will naturally lead people to believe Jesus is God or divine, certainty more than human.
In order to reach the fullness of that belief however you need the tradition of the Church. Why do all the hard work yourself when it’s been done for you centuries earlier?
Since the apostles and prophets had “knowledge in the mystery of Christ,” why would you want to rely on the traditions of the Church? I believe that was the point of the question. A little hard work in searching the scriptures might be good for all of us.
