This thread is an offshoot of one I started in Non-Catholic Religions. My question is simple: can Jesus ever, after he became Incarnate, be separated from his (glorious, heavenly) body?

Since scripture defines death as the soul or spirit separate from the body, and since Jesus is risen and alive forevermore, can he ever be apart from his body?

Simple answer, no.

Free from death, He remains in his body for ever.

Death is the separation of the soul from
the body and He will never face that again.

Thanks, that’s my understanding as well, and I was pretty much told I was a heretic for having such an understanding.

Wow. Why would someone say that was heresy?

Something along the lines of “of course Jesus can be separate from his body, he’s God!”

There’s also the question is Jesus omnipresent, and does that mean his body is omnipresent, and does it make sense to speak of a body that is everywhere?

Another question I posed was this

Can Jesus be separated from his divinity?
Can Jesus be separated from his human soul?
Can Jesus be separated from his human body?

One poster said No to the first two, and Yes to the last. Why the human body would be somehow a second-class citizen in the hypostatic union, I’m not sure. It sounds like the “Jesus in a man-suit” error to me.

While God can do anything, there are things that will not happen because of the laws of being He has established. Straight circles, watery fire, and cold heat are among these. A bodiless, live human being would be another.

His om(name removed by moderator)resence is a function of His Divinity, not His human body. So we can fellowship in prayer with Him, but cannot rest in His arms, until we see Him in Eternity.
