John is a Roman Catholic. I am his aunt and he has come to me for help. He believes that if he follows the Ten Commandments, and brings no harm to anyone, he lives a good life. He works in a very busy and fast paced job. He is mature and lives a respectable life. He met Mary who is not a Catholic. Mary was raised in a secular household. Mary is not religious but spiritual and believes in the presence of God in her life. She served in the army, and after an honorable discharge, is studying to become an elementary school teacher. They fell in love and dated for two years. They would meet on the week-ends and attend Sunday mass at John’s Catholic Parish Church. They decide to marry.
John and Mary are introverted, shy and lack courage to meet the parish priest and ask if they can marry in the Catholic Church. Afraid they will lose each other if the Catholic Church does not allow mixed marriages; they seek the help of her family.
John finally gets married to Mary in a non-denominational Chapel in Las Vegas and they are now living together as husband and wife.
John and Mary both keep to the day of obligation and attend Mass in the Catholic Church. He has stopped receiving the Holy Eucharist on Sundays as he feels because he married outside the Catholic Church; he has sinned, and cannot receive the Holy Eucharist. He wants very much to receive the Holy Eucharist. 1. Please advise what he should do to continue to receiving the Holy Eucharist.
John is a good and devout catholic and wants to marry in the Catholic Church. He knows that only the Catholic Church through the “Sacrament of Marriage” will give him and Mary an indissoluble marriage. He does not want to pressure his wife to become a Catholic but to give her time to accept his religion and to become a Catholic voluntarily and of her own free will. **2. Will the Catholic Church allow him to marry in the Catholic Church? **
Mary is a good, sweet and loving person and allows him to practice his faith. She is also agreeable that they should raise their children as Catholics.** 3.
