Last night a parishioner told me that married men in Africa can become Catholic priests. This is not the case of a married man who was an Anglican or Episcopal priest and converted to Catholicism.
The person told me when he lived in Chicago, he met a Catholic priest who was from Africa and in the US for extra training. The contract he signed with the diocese (not sure which one) sent money back to his hometown in Africa for the support of his wife and children.
Is this true? And if so, what would be the circumstances that would allow this?
Thanks.
