I’m a protestant considering the Catholic faith. There is much I find true and beautiful about the Catholic Church. However, Marian doctrines are still hard for me to understand. Someone pointed me to a section of the CCC. Paragraph #966 says in part:

“…In giving birth you kept your virginity; in your Dormition you did not leave the world, O Mother of God, but were joined to the source of Life. You conceived the living God and, by your prayers, will deliver our souls from death.”

This seems to be giving Mary divine power that can only come from Christ and his work on the cross. Can you help me understand this?

Thanks,

Ken
