Can men dress immodestly?

I would say it’s totally fine for a guy to go shirtless at a pool or water park, it does not seem immodest to me.

Yes - well tailored means attention to detail and a regard for the image one projects. I don’t mean tailored up so every line of the body is visible. You got it. 😉 Get the coat fitted, the pants properly hemmed (not to the shoe tops, guys - pants should break at the ankle a bit), sleeve breaks at the wrists…there’s an art to a suit. 🙂

Most of what I see now is, well, garbage. Suits aren’t meant to be skin tight. Most suits are now tailored way too tight and look ridiculous.

I’m a woman, and I would say yes it usually does. Not that women aren’t visual at all, but definitely not as much as men.

You are one hundred percent correct. I totally agree. :raised_hands:t2::raised_hands:t2:

(I’m out of likes!)

The first time I read the phrase “sola skirtura” on this board several months ago I literally spit coffee on my computer.

Men - don’t want to offend other men - first and foremost.
But you should always dress - to how you feel -
I love - seeing someone dressed - to who they actually are, that day.

That is also true.

I noticed this the other day. I was in Seattle. I am not a man bun fan. Maybe I’m too old. But a guy was helping me in a store and was nicely dressed, polite, helpful - and was rocking a man bun. And I thought, you know what - that suits him. Mind changed. 🙂

Sola skitura 😂

I agree! There is too much policing of women’s clothing.

I had to get up from the table and get a paper towel to wipe my laptop screen off the first time I read that.

ColorMomma is going to start making these in a new closet industry.

Oh, man, the pun. 🤣🤣🤣

The thing is, there is something very beautiful and modest about skirts.

Kind of follows along the dress code policies I’ve seen in th health systems where I have worked; four pages addressing women, and a paragraph or two for men.

I’m a lady and I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a guy and thought what he was wearing was immodest. But, some things are just too fruity and creepy to be legal for guys to wear. Like speedos and leggings.

Also, I cannot count how many times I was at the gym and wished the guy on the machine near me would just put on a bra.

I am not a dress person, but I AM one of those people who struggles wearing pants to Mass. I can’t. I just can’t do it. I have fallen in love with skirts again - nice long ones, flow-y ones. I’m really digging them and have built a heck of a collection since I started going to Mass. My husband has always commented that I look nice - but I think he’s been happy with the return of the skirt himself, and I don’t mean anything by that except the compliment it contains.

I agree! I wear skirts and dresses often. But sola skirtura? No way.
