Can my ex-husband get to heaven after committing suicide?

My ex husband committed suicide. My heart is broken for him and my son. He was raised catholic but really didn’t believe in organize religion because he felt he was forced to go to church when he was young. A member of AA and non drinking for 22 years. He was very troubled when he felt he had no alternative…and alcohol and pills for depression made him do the unthinkable. Please tell me I can pray him into heaven… that Jesus will save his soul. I am talking to total strangers to relieve the guilt and saddness that is overwhelming me. We have been divorced for 27 years…but, we still kept in contact and talked to him up to the week before he died. I searched for this site, I search for some sort of help to pray him to be forgiven and saved.

Usually when people take their own lives it is to stop the pain whether it be physical or mental–and not because the desparied. Actually, mental pain can be worse.

No one understands this better than the Lord, Himself. And no one loves him more. After all, the Lord shed His blood and gave His life for him. Do continue to pray for Him, but also know that he could be in better hands.
