My husband was asked to be the Godparent of his best-friend’s first child. The friend used to be a Catholic but is now an Episcopalian. I know the Catholic Church recognizes Episcopalian baptisms as valid. So, from my husband’s point of view, can he “promise” to raise the child Catholic when he’d be the Godfather? Is the issue more on the friend’s side when he knows my husband’s position? Or is my husband not permitted to be the Godparent at all (consistent with the Catholic faith)? Thanks.
