Can non-Catholics receive Sacrament of Reconciliation?

Hello,

Can non-Catholics receive Sacrament of Reconciliation?

Can they go to Confession and still receive absolution, though they were never baptized in the faith? (say, atheists, Jews, etc.)

well sort of …
A baptized person who is being received into the church must go to confession prior to confirmation. Some do it more than once.

A non-baptized person cannot receive any of the Sacraments until they are baptized. Even if a priest officiates at a marriage between a Catholic and a non-baptized person, it is not a sacramental marriage. Valid but not sacramental.
 
A priest will hear your confession and possibly advise on how to obtain absolution, or other personal advice.

But I believe absolution is for members in community with the Church (or shortly to be confirmed via RCIA).
 
also (I think this is the case) a non-Catholic may receive sacramental absolution if they belong to a Church with valid sacraments, they cannot receive absolution from a priest of their own Church, and there is a reasonable expectation of danger to their lives. This would apply to a Greek Orthodox or Russian Orthodox.

But, again, I am not positive about this - I think this is the case.
 
A friend of mine wanted to go to Confession within a month of his reception into the Church, and the priest couldn’t give him absolution.

Non-baptised persons cannot go to Confession and receive absolution.
 
Is there any Church documents that speak of this?
Prob. the Catechism. I’ll have to look into it.
