I do find it interesting that a faith that would not let a woman preach or pray with the men is embraced by this woman, who is a minister in a church that allows her to both preach and pray with men.

No. I think this woman should choose and not insult Christianity or Islam by pretending to be some sort of hybrid Chrislum.

And I am NOT a Muslim!

Some things make me see red, and this is one of them.

Can’t we all just get along! lol!😃
I believe we can, in more ways than one:thumbsup::
LAGOS, NIGERIA – At first, it seems a surprising sight: inside a two-story mosque in sub-Saharan Africa’s largest metropolis hangs a life-size portrait of Jesus Christ.

Yet worshipers at "The True Message of God Mission" say it's entirely natural for Christianity and Islam to cexist, even overlap. They begin their worship by praying at the Jesus alcove and then "running their deliverance" - sprinting laps around the mosque's mosaic-tiled courtyard, praying to the one God for forgiveness and help. They say it's akin to Israelites circling the walls of Jericho - and Muslims swirling around the Ka'ba [shrine in Mecca](http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0126/p01s04-woaf.html).

It’s not a matter of right or wrong. Muslim and Christian are simply not the same. If this Episcopal priest who is now also Muslim is struggling with issues such as the divinity of Jesus, then it sounds as if she is not truly Christian. And that’s OK, she doesn’t have to be.
From other articles I’ve read. One of her reasons for joining Islam is that there were more people of color in the Mosque. She views Christianity as a religon of white people and the elete… obvioulsy a misconception from her limited experience. She sounds more then bit racist to me.

One of my concerns is that she is in charge of religious information and training in her church. I wonder who many people she’s sending away from Christianity to the mosques?

A Muslim is by definition someone who is a follower of Islam.

One cannot be a follower of Islam and hence a Muslim if he or she does not believe that Muhammad (pbuh) is the Final Messenger of God.

Jesus, Moses, Abraham and all the other Prophets in human history (peace and blessings of Allah be upon them all), were all Muslims because they submitted to the will of their Creator and they believed that there will be a Last Prophet.

Remember that Jesus (pbuh) was most definitely NOT a Christian according to the Nicene Creed but he was most certainly a Muslim according to the definition in Islam.

"In Seattle’s Episcopal circles, Redding had mixed largely with white people. “To walk into Al-Islam and be reminded that there are more people of color in the world than white people, that in itself is a relief,” she said.
Too bad she didn’t walk into a Catholic Church, which is 80% people of color.
I would say that, like all conversion experiences (and this seems to be one to me), it is complex. I do have to say, though, that when I was attending an Episcopal Church and came to the realization that I did not believe in the divinity of Jesus nor had I ever truly done so, I ceased calling myself a Christian and left the church.
While I may not agree with your choice, I can appreciate that you did what you had to do without trying to ride two bicycles at once.

if you say “i look at an orange, and i see an apple. it tastes like a grape.”

i think your senses are in shambles. nothing to do with the fruit.

Can one be a Christian and a Muslim? IMHO ~ No
Yes, a Christian can be a Muslim at the same time! Read the CCC, and we are told that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. My parish priest told me a true Muslim worships the triune God and one such example is His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI who is a Trinitarian Muslim.

Other famous Trinitarian Muslims are Roman Emperor Constantine and Saint John Chrysostom. The Holy Ecumenical Council of Nicea condemned Sunni Islam (aka Arianism) as a heresy.

A true Muslim obviously confess the Nicene Creed and rejects all those evil and inhumane teachings of “prophet” Muhammad because he is a false prophet. True Muslims also reject the Quran.

She believes the Trinity is an idea about God and cannot be taken literally.

She does not believe Jesus and God are the same, but rather that God is more than Jesus.

She believes Jesus is the son of God insofar as all humans are the children of God, and that Jesus is divine, just as all humans are divine — because God dwells in all humans.

What makes Jesus unique, she believes, is that out of all humans, he most embodied being filled with God and identifying completely with God’s will.
So by almost any standard she isn’t a Christian… it’s as easy as that. This is not the Christian view of Jesus, it is a (sort of) Moslem view.

Plain stupid. She should not be allowed to continue as a priest.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?

:rotfl:
Yes, we are serious! His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI is a Trinitarian Muslim, yes a Muslim, as he surrenders to the Holy Trinity.

According to the CCC, being Muslim is as simple as confessing the Nicene Creed, which is why CCC says Christians and Muslims worship the same God.

Allah is not God as Allah is not triune. True God is Trinity and there are 3 persons each who is God but distinct from each other, yet all 3 are one God. That’s what we confess in the Nicene Creed.

No Jesus was not a Muslim according to the definition of Islam. He did not accept Muhammad as a prophet.

I see what you are saying… however the word ‘Muslim’ has come to mean the followers of Muhammad.

How about we say one can not follow the Christian faith and the Islamic faith as it stands today. The Qur’an and the Bible are not compatible.

This is just the latest embarrassment to the Episcopal Church…sigh.😦

An article I read onc epointed out that most of the folks attending a Bishop Spong talk were older white haired folks who were part of that 60’s generation that tried to break barriers and liberalize the Church (whether it be RCC or Episc). At least in the RCC the JP II generation seems to be pulling the Church back to vibrant orthodoxy.

Her Bishop’s reaction to this clergy women is ridiculous and is an abdication of his office. He was excited that she was blending the two faiths and part of some interesting new wave. Huhhhhh? Muslims and Christians do NOT worship the same God. Jesus Christ IS God. Islam worships some other adpated faith made up of legends and information Mohammad picked up on during his caravan days (that is why some of the tales in the Quran are altered oral tradition). That is great, fine and so on but it is not belief in the True God as it is a pale imitation. This women CANNOT be a Priestess and a follower of Islam.

This women needs to be defrocked (with no anomoisty) and sent on her way to teach in University as she intends to. Just utter, astounding nonesense! I am personally embarrassed by this Bishop and the further apostasy of the National Church. This is a terrible witness!!

The Episcopal Church…Oh how the mighty have fallen. The once great bastion of Western faith and culture reduced to moral relativism (You do your thing and I will do mine). Good gravey…you can be anything in the Episcopal Church EXCEPT conservative.

   Okay…I have done with my rant. Carry on:D 😃 😃

Or if he were to say, *I believe Muhammad to be the messenger of God,* he enters Islam. This is because the deniers of Islam refrain from saying these two formulae. Hence if he were to declare even one of these two commandments, he would be taken out of the category called non-Muslim, and would be considered as a Muslim.''
Hmm…according to this Muslim, to simply say “There is no god but Allah” makes one a Muslim. And since “Allah” means “God”, could a Christian say “There is no god but God”?
