I am a Catholic that returned to the Church after falling away for many years. I received the Sacrament of Baptism and First Communion at a Marine base on Okinawa and I believe Confirmation in 1961. Due to the passage of so many years I don’t have a clear memory of it. My Confirmation was not listed on the Military Archdiocese Sacrament record so I’ve no way of knowing for sure. My local parish indicated that I can obtain re-Confirmation as a result of not being sure I was confirmed by my local parish. Before I enter RCIA it would be beneficial to know if re- Confirmation is possible based on the following circumstances. I was married in the church long ago, divorced and civilly remarried and living in total and complete continence for over ten years. I long for the fulfillment of grace, strength of the Holy Spirit and closer to my church that Confirmation provides. Your counsel is most appreciated.

Catholics who are married outside the Church cannot receive the sacrament of confirmation.

I would encourage you to attempt to resolve the situation with your first marriage in order to be able to fully participate in the sacramental life of the Church.
