Can one somehow become unconfirmed?

No.

The character remains on ones soul etc.

Once one is confirmed in the Catholic Church they are confirmed forever. You cannot become unconfirmed.

OK,

BUT what of the MANY who choose for a multitude of reasons, to leave the RCC? Is that if not literally; at least fully, denial and forfeiting of their Conformation VOWS? [Hen 6:4-8]

Leaving the Catholic Church after you were confirmed is a denial of your profession of Faith. Jesus said that of those who deny Him before men He would deny before His Heavenly Father."
However if someone who is misguided sincerely believes that the Catholic Church is wrong and someone else is right, then I cannot presume to sit in judgement of that person. I will pray for them and leave the judgement to God.
