Can praying before statues be supported biblically?

I believe the reason that Catholics pray before statues while kneeling is they feel that it helps their prayer in some way.

In the same way that looking at a photo of a loved one helps a person to call them to mind, perhaps. Two questions in response:

1. In what sense do you “believe” that Catholics feel that statues help our prayer?
2. Have you actually just asked a Catholic if they do feel this way, or did you arrive at your conclusion without any Catholic (name removed by moderator)ut?

Of course I’m putting this very simply, I’m sure there are many reasons for the practice.

Have you asked any Catholics about those reasons?

Again, thank you for the research and answers, I am however looking for **official statements **that praying before statues somehow enhances or improves prayer.

Lots of things can inspire or improve prayer. I often pray before a box of donuts, for example.
