I have mixed-feelings about how the priest handled that. Our priest suggests that we do a good examination of conscience before going to confession. I have a list of mortal sins and venial sins. Does not include everything.
Three conditions necessary for mortal sin…
  1. Code:
Serious Matter 2) Sufficient Reflection 3) Full consent of the will
•Involvement in cult practices like masonry, Wicca, wizardry
•Leaving the Catholic Faith for another religion or practice
•Receiving Holy Communion in a state of mortal sin without confession
•Receiving Conformation or marriage in a state of mortal sin
•Firm hatred of God and his teachings
•Buying or selling of blessed or consecrated objects
•Using God’s name as a purposeful curse
•Seriously wishing death or harm upon another person
•Serious slander about another person
•Swearing false oaths
•Perjury or lying under oath
•Willful failure to fast and abstain on Ash Wednesday/Good Friday
•Missing mass intentionally on Sunday or Holy Days
•Willfully working at a task for more than a few hours on Sunday regularly
•Serious failure to care for your aging parents
•Wishing evil or death upon your parents or grandparents
•Failure to Baptize your children and raise them in the faith
•Murder, manslaughter, or homicide
•Having an abortion
•Using artificial birth control which causes spontaneous abortion
•Endangering another while driving drunk
•Abusing and selling illegal drugs
•Having oneself sterilized
•Adultery
•Fornication
•Self-abuse
•Prostituting one’s body for money
•In-vitro fertilization

•Stealing a large amount of money
•Buying or selling stolen goods
•Excessive gambling
•Bribery or blackmail
•Tax evasion
•Detraction or serious gossip
•Internet pornography
•Willfully lusted after another person
VENIAL SINS AS TAUGHT BY THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
•Failure to pray regularly
•Failure to know and study the teachings of the Catholic Church
•Spiritual laziness
•Not trusting God will provide
•Failure to support the mission of the Catholic Church
•Putting off confession
•Giving into self-pity and selfishness
•Using God’s name frivolously
•Cursing thoughtlessly
•Speaking badly about Bishops, Priests, and Deacons

It is 100% possible for me not to sin until the end of my life! There is no pride here! It’s all by the mercy of God! No Satan nor all demons can force me to sin!!! How can you all claim something like that? If I see sin, even venial, and do not won’t to commit it, I won’t! How can you say that venial sin is normal? It is eternal pain to God! Some of the things you mentioned are NOT sins at all. It’s not a sin not to pray for somebody who has cancer, especiatelly if you are praying for other intentions. I said at my last confesion that I hate sin and that I will not sin again and I mean it literaly.

Only God is capable of not sinning…do you mean to convince us of your divinity?

I admire your resolve, but question greatly your understanding of sin.

We can do sins of omission. You seem to not comprehend that.

You are guilty of the sin of pride…possibly arrogance…self-delusion…narcissism.

Do I need to go on? It is spiritually impossible for a mortal (unless he is in a coma) to complete one day without committing sin. That is our human (fallen) condition. Your arrogance in speaking thus to a priest is quite staggering.

You seem to have managed a bagful…think about it. The Sin of Pride is the greatest sin of all. It caused the fall of Lucifer, Adam and Judas. It is the subltest of all Sin since in our self-righteousness we say ‘This is no Sin.’

PS: Even in this simplest of replies I have committed the sin of Pride…thinking/maintaining that I know better than you. I apologise for this but at least it might demonstrate to you the subtlety and the ease with which PRIDE enters into our lives. Rest assured you are a constant sinner like the rest of us.
So you think that you have sinned by this post and caused eternal pain to God, but you still don’t see the reason not to post it??? It’s not sin to think that you know better than me, although untrue :). God has made us all different with different inteligences, some are smarter, some are not that smart. Anyway, you don’t even say that you are generaly smarter than me, just about this issue. But if you think it’s sin and still do it, it could still be a problem. One priest told me that neither Satan, nir all his demons can force you to sin…

Nope, not only God but Mary also. And I DID SIN, I HAVE SINNED VERY BADLY IN MY LIFE AND I DON’T WANT TO REPEAT IT. Besides, when I went to confesion it was 3days after my last confesion. I just started to feel bad and I wanted peace. You are probably going to say that I felt bad because I sinned, but faith isn’t about the feelings.

Aand also,i have never even said that i am sure that i haven’t sinned in these days. I just thought it. That is why i went to confesion.

And also, day without sin is not perfect day, it’s just day full of peace with God.

. I just started to feel bad and I wanted peace. ,
That I can understand now. You needed peace .
Feeling bad is very human, and often times sharing some time with a friend,or going for a walk in a soothing place brings back that stability and unity one needs. It just happens.
You seem to be determined to please God, and we may find God in all things .There is beauty in the most unexpected.
What do you think?

Hello Lifesoldier.
I went to confesion and told priest that I think I haven’t sinned since last time I went to confesion, but I would like God to forgive me if there is something. He asked me why did I go to confesion. I said that I went because God is only judge. He said that he can’t absolvee, he blessed me and sent me out. Did priest have the right to do this? How can I be sure that I am in the state of grace? I don’t want to sin again. Does that mean that I should never go to confesion again?
He probably thought you were trying to conceal a mortal sin that you were too embarrassed to mention, so he used his discretion. We all have venial sins. I am well aware of my faults and failings and go to Confession on a regular basis for them. This is part of the Life of Christ we are all called to as Christians. If you are only focused on mortal sin and think that Confession is only for mortal sins, then you need to find some instruction on the Sacrament and get to work on your spiritual life. As Mother Angelica says, “We are all called to be Saints. Don’t miss the opportunity.”

Okie dokie. I get the picture. You aren’t Catholic and that is why you got bagged in the Confessional. Nice try. You shouldn’t mock God. He’ll be waiting for you there in the Confessional when you are really ready to turn to Him and be saved.

My thoughts…
Going to confession in three days from the last one could mean that you were still feeling guilt or that you didn’t accept God’s forgiveness or part of the sin was not properly confessed. Sin comes by thought, word, or action. A sin of omission, as mentioned by a poster, can be failure to pray for your fellow man–we are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. The Pharisees boasted about not having sinned. Only God can judge our hearts. I get up every morning and try again to live in the grace of God and not offend Him. I have yet to write such a day in my journal. But I keep trying. Maybe I am spiritually weak. I told my priest after confession that I wanted to live holy. He said ask God for what you want. We all try. We are human. Should we fail, we go immediately to confession and restore our soul. God forgives us through the priest. God bless you on your spiritual journey.
