cest, my priest is being reassigned July 1. Can we have you?No more then a woman can be a father.
Sue,…my priest is being reassigned July 1.
Opposite direction - he’s going to have a cluster with St. Stephen’s in New Boston & St. Aloyisius in Romulus. I heard that this weeks’ Michigan Cafeteria Catholic has an article about our new pastor, but I haven’t seen it yet.Sue,
I am sorry for you. My wife has told me such great things about him. To where is he going? I am hoping toward the northwest corner of the Archdiocese!
That’s too bad for both of us. I was hoping he would make it as least as far as Novi.Opposite direction - he’s going to have a cluster with St. Stephen’s in New Boston & St. Aloyisius in Romulus.
A women can be a priest but the church does not allow it at this time. There is nothing biological that prevents a women from performing priestly duties. I realize I’m playing with sematics here but I just wanted to point that outNo more then a woman can be a father.
i would also strongly contend with the notion that this doctrine is based on outmoded ‘gender oppressive’ theology…it’s really all about tradition, though theologically based, it is a theology sprung from gender oppressive times.
What do you disagree with? that it is outmoded or that it is gender oppressive? not sure what your saying here Jeff.i would also strongly contend with the notion that this doctrine is based on outmoded ‘gender oppressive’ theology…
i was wondering about that too.The question made me laugh . . . do you mean can a woman be ordained or do you mean can an ordainded priest become a woman? (i.e. sex change) I’d have to vote no on that one!! —KCT
The preisthood is not gender oppressive. What do you disagree with? that it is outmoded or that it is gender oppressive? not sure what your saying here Jeff.
Thank you cest, for the reading suggestions. I was merely pointed out that women would be fully capable not necessarily arguing that they should be Priests. However the encyclical ignores the fact that Jesus had to choose men because women of that time would not be allowed the access necessary to deliver his message. Again as it was clearly stated this subject is not up for debate at this timeanam,
I think you should read what the Church actually has said. The issue is dead. The deposit of faith does not change. Given what has happened with the Anglicans we can rejoice in that fact. I suggest you read Ordinatio Sacerdotalis and the encyclical on The Dignity of Women.
