Can Protestants go to Confession?

Hi, I was wondering, if I were a priest, and a person came up to me and said:“Father, I’m a Protestant, but I would like to come to confession.” Would the Protestant be allowed to attend confession? Why of Why not? Would it be the same as a Catholic attending confession?
