Can Protestants go to Confession?

My mother is a Protestant but is starting to inquire more and more into the Catholic faith. One aspect of Catholic theology that she is ready to embrace is the need for sacramental confession to a priest. However, she is not ready to accept all of the teachings of the Church and seek entry through RCIA.

Can she go to the Sacrament of Confession without seeking entry into the Church?
