Can Satan/other demons come to us in our dreams?

I ask this question because last night I had this dream, and when I woke up in the morning, I truly had to wonder if it was real or had been a dream, of course, I knew it was a dream, since I knew I had been sleeping, but Ive never had such a dream, It is almost 9pm and I can still remember every little detail about this dream too (Usually dreams are long forgotten by 12 noon).

OK, so heres the dream…I was for some reason holding a rubber snake (toy), and to my surprise, it started to talk to me, (I can still see its mouth and eyes moving in my mind!), it only asked me 2 questions…first it asked me if I had any knowledge of aviation? which I said no, then it asked me if I could learn aviation? I said, yes, I suppose I could ( but I have no interest in this), then I was lying down and a demonic figure flew down, he was a stereotypical demon, large bat like wings, claws on fingers and toes, had horns on his head and kind of a dark red colored skin, he stayed in one spot about 5ft off the ground in front of me, flapping his wings, telling me sorry he is late, he has so busy, then he tells me they are going to put some kind of device in my stomach to keep track of me, I saw the device, it was large and shaped like a boomerang, I could feel the pain as it went into my stomach, then I felt normal, and got up, I stood there and he told me to make sure I learn as much as I can until I am needed.

So for the first few hours today, I kept wondering if I should start looking into aviation, and why aviation…I have never even had an interest in learning to fly…???

I realize dreams are weird and may or may not mean anything, but this dream took the cake LOL, I can still see everything vividly and have not forgotten one detail of it.
 
In 1984 after living a life of sex, drugs and rock n roll…to put it mildly…debauchery…I returned to the Sacraments…the story behind my return is in itself nothing less than miraculous, but suffice it to say…after making a heartfelt confession where I wept, the very Holy Priest hearing my confession told me that my tears were washing away my sins…I had been away from the Church for years…the next day while attending Mass I received Holy Communion and the feeling was as though a wave came over me…after living my young adulthood in Sin…this was such a feeling…that night…I had horrible dreams…demons…nothing like a regular scary dream…this was different…it really frightened me…I went back to see my confessor who told me that the Evil one was prbly trying to hold on to me…he told me to cross myself and say the name of Jesus…The devil hates the name of Jesus…a couple of years later…my dad was dieing…although he was never a regular Mass attendee…as a child he made certain that I went to Mass …when I visited him in the hospital…he shared with me that he had gone to confession and had received Holy Communion…I felt such joy in hearing this from my dad, who previously was never one to discuss such things…(amazing what effect facing our mortality will do to us)…anyway…he also shared with me that he had these horrible dreams that night after Communion…demons…like nothing before…very very frightening…I suggested to him what Fr. Montalbano had suggested that I do…interesting eh…? I’m sure that there are individuals,including but not limited to the clergy on this forum that could offer Bibilican examples of christians throughout hx being visited in their dreams…but I just wanted to share my little story…not knowing what is going on with you…but maybe what I have shared might offer some help…Pax
 
Dreams are the editing floors of our minds, as well as something God has given us so we don’t have to look at the darkness while sleeping.

Spirits have no more access to our mind asleep than awake, TTASM. Anything that arises in our dreams was in our subconscious first. It is there that our fear resides.

It might have been something your own mind made up. If the devil were to come to you in a dream it wouldn’t be to have you **learn anything, **or anything neutral or helpful, the devil would be saying bad things to try to scare you or trying to get you to do harmful things etc. The devil’s purpose is to kill, steal and destroy. He would be trying to lead you away from God and Christianity, things like that.
 
Mikekle, that dream sounds a bit like an alien abduction! If it did come from a demon, it may be setting you up for some kind of astral projection, out-of-body thing. Or it could have been just a goofy dream. To answer your question: Can demons affect our dreams, the answer is a resounding YES, sorry GEddie. We know angels can appear in our dreams from the bible, but demons are angels, too. If God wills it, they can invade our dreams also.

Sometimes people want to know if demons can read our thoughts. One of the priest-apologists here says “no”, but I remember reading about an exorcist who had very good reason to believe they can read our thoughts. He prayed silently in French during the exorcism, and the possessed victim whipped her head around and said, “It’s no use praying in French, I know that language, too!”

Like awsiukiewicz, I also had a terrible dream, which happened the same night that I returned to church in November 2010 after a six year absence. I dreamed I was flat-out attacked, choked, crushed and paralyzed by a demonic black shadow until I screamed “Help me Jesus!” and the shadow fled. When I woke up, I was beside myself with fright. I was lying on my side, then I rolled over onto my back, and instantly came face-to-face with a luminous white orb with a halo surrounding it. It hovered and undulated and gently moved back and forth for about four minutes, then slowly faded away. I was totally calm the whole time I was witnessing this amazing sight. When it was gone, I simply went peacefully to sleep, like a hadn’t a care in the world. The strangest night of my life, no doubt. That dream was absolutely a demonic attack triggered because I returned to church. That orb was…who knows? Probably an angel.
 
If you suspect the DEVIL wants you to learn about aviation, you should definitely not do it, especially if you are not interested in it.

Like the others above, I had a demonic attack soon after I had turned my life over to God.

The huge weight immobilising me, the feeling of utter evil, being pinned on my side to the bed, and only being able to speak through my clenched teeth ‘You can’t do this to me, I am under the protection of the Lord Jesus Christ’ said over and over till the evil went away.
 
I think they can “invade” or “take over” our dreams. In my own case, I’ll be having a quite ordinary dream, but it will suddenly turn into a nightmare, and I’ll wake up. When I do, there is a sense of evil in the room, of something sinister being present. The prevailing “light” seems to have a sort of additional darkness about it as well, despite the street lights outside providing some light in the room, even with the curtains.

So, yes, I think they can affect our dreams. To me it’s more of an irritant than anything else. So I’ve had a dream turned into a nightmare, and have been spooked for a short while? Well, so what? I go and get a drink of water, and go back to bed.

I did go through one stage where I kept getting this image of the tail of a snake, when I was asleep. When I mentioned this to my pastor at the time, he commented it probably indicated the presence of the devil or a demon. Later, to my surprise, reading a Catholic book on spirituality, the writer actually used the term “tail of the snake” to indicate some hidden demonic presence in the spiritual life.

To quote another pastor, who had a ministry with street kids, “There’s a very strange physic world out there.”

I agree, It does seem like an alien abduction, this may be the case, as I am heavily into this topic and currently in the process of trying to find FOIA documents regarding extraterrestrial life and our Govts knowledge, but I have always had a more than average interest in this subject, yet I have never seen anything strange in the sky personally.

whatever it was, I have no intent to learn aviation.

Oh, wow. That info adds another dimension to the story. I would advise you to stop being so curious about “aliens”. They are nothing but demons. You know who Whitley Streiber is? He wrote several books about his “abduction” experiences. I think his current view is that he doesn’t know what the aliens are, but sounds like he leans toward extraterrestials, probably because “they” told him so. But in the beginning of his “visitations” his first thought was that they were demons. You know what they say about first impressions. He was probably correct, and should have gone under the assumption that they were demons and rebuked them in the Holy Name of Jesus. Now he has this mess on his hands, with the constant stress of harassment by these “aliens”. Don’t open any doors. If they know you are interested, they’ll be very hard to get rid of.
 
The saint’s where visited by angels in their dreams, I’m thinking of St. Joseph, he was visited several times. This is by divine grace, the work of the Holy Spirit. I don’t think evil spirits can enter your mind (perhaps if you let them in by serious sin?) Satan entered Judas when he made up his mind to betray Jesus But I am convinced that they can suggest evil thoughts, and guardian angels can suggest good and holy thoughts. If you have obsessions evil spirits can use these obsessions against you. They can even affect saintly people, St Theresa of Avilla, and St.John Vianny and the late Padre Pio for example , and they can do this in a physical way. They have an intimate knowledge of human nature, as Our Lady would say “:they are very astute” Forget Astro-projection and aliens. These beliefs are designed to deceive in making people think that they have some hidden power that touches on the divine. It counters the first Commandment “Thou shalt not have any false gods before Me, I am the Lord thy God”
 
They can’t pass your guardian angel. There are temptations but what matters is your opinion after you wake up.

The only thing that makes me question that theory, is Ive been into the UFO/alien subject since I was in my early 20s, I am 39 now, so if something was going to happen, I think it would have happened long ago.

Im on the fence about whether aliens are demons in disguise, Ive read some things that contribute to that, but other things that dont fit with the theory, there are alot of incidents where people claim the alien beings encourage more love of others, and tend to give off very positive feelings.

I also wonder about the many encounters where the beings or craft are neutral, and dont really desire ANY contact with mankind, I would think if they were demons, they would take every chance to try and sway someones opinions, and not just try to get away or out of sight.

Most alien encounters also have a highly technical aspect to it, Im not sure if demons or angels require any kind of technology to begin with. Think about it, if they did, their ‘world’ would be similar to ours, they would have labs, factories, research experiments, workers to build the craft, etc. this does not seem like something demons would be part of…that is, unless we have completely misunderstood hell.

Im actually more interested in WHY our Govt feels it needs to hide this info. what do they know that makes them want to keep it secret?

I go to bed about 11:30 to midnight, the last food I had was around 6:30pm, which was grilled chicken sandwich and chips.

Interesting thread, keep it coming. :)🍿 I also believe that aliens exist, some may be evil spirits posing as aliens and some may be like the Nephelim, hybrids between humans and fallen angels only not giant anymore and they were forced to flee from the earth when God sent the flood so they take up residence in the sky/space which is said to be the devil’s domain.

That is exactly what the elder priest at our parish has said, he has a PHD in history. I asked him about the Nephilim once before, he told me that they were the first attempt of Satan to corrupt the human seed, and was done thru ‘brute force’ by using giants, that people easily noticed, however this did not work out too well, so today, Satan will not use such an ‘in your face’ method as literal giants, he will be a bit more sneaky about corrupting the human seed, so it will be easy to fool alot of people…and actually the whole ET/ UFO thing would be perfect, many people consider the whole topic to be nonsense and they just will not believe, so Satan already has a leg up on these people, plus he can do it slowly and over a number of years with no one being the wiser.

Such is very true. You will even find people in the Church who not only don’t believe in Alien life, but don’t really buy into even Satan! I have a relative that believes the only ‘hard core’ evil exists as a mental psychotic break from reality. They don’t believe in Satan as a real fallen angel that ‘roams the world seeking the ruin of souls’. They believe it’s all within the human condition. I’m almost afraid to venture into the conversation in regard to ‘hell’ with this relative. People that don’t believe in hell…well, like Padre Pio says, they will when they get there.:eek:
 
I think the entire spiritual warfare for our souls centers on evil versus good influences that work via our imaginations and emotions. So I am open to thinking that demons can influence us via dreams.

Of course it is ultimately our own free will that does the deed. But as Peter Kreeft puts it, we are heavily influenced for good or bad. It is part of the constant spiritual warfare we don’t see.
Constant battle for our souls.
 
I know that angels can speak to us in our dreams. The dream of St.Joseph was a message from an angel that warned Joseph of Herod seeking the life of the child Jesus. I am not sure if Satan is allowed such an intrusion, but I do suspect that he can influence our dreams not from the interior of our minds, but from external influence on our bodies. There is the case of Judas when he resolved to betray Jesus, he let Satan into his soul, and the result was suicide. Satan can also take on human form, as Padre Pio experienced, and he can affect us physically as he did to St,Theresa of Avilla. I also experienced his physical influence, not necessarily Satan himself, but a fallen angel, as his cohort I have experienced in the presence of people his paranormal influence and was able to stop it. Little do people know of
his influence and existence.
He is behind all the evil and troubles of the world, even at this moment. Were you see murder, people killing each other you will find him. Where you see vice, you will find him. Where you don’t see Jesus Christ you will find him guaranteed, this was the purpose Jesus came to redeem us from the works of Satan, but how many believe this?
