Can Satan Perform Miracles

Well again, supernatural pertains specifically and solely to the Divine.

Demonic things strictly speaking are preternatural.
Nice hair-split. Really, if an event is outside nature, what’s the difference whether it is called “preter” or “super”?

With regard to the extra-natural (how’s that for a work-around) things that the devil can, St. Paul called them “lying wonders”. See 2 Thessalonians 2:9.

This ain’t hair splitting. Supernatural is of God. Period. The Church alone is empowered and authorized to discern and judge this. Preternatural is of the angelic realm, fallen or holy angels, who are way smarter than human beans. The Church alone may judge. These “false miracles of the air” were forewarned about. These preternatural marvels may include a class of preternatural stuff that human beans are simply behind the technical curve on, like levitating. For that I reference the Coral Castle wee dude whose simple machine with a four-lobed rotor and mesh gears and magnets and a hand crank were used by him to move multi-ton coral blocks by himself.

That supernatural? No. If an angel did that we would term it “preternatural” because it’s above our understanding, but not above the physics grounded in the natural world. The element often missing in our understanding of the supernatural is TIMING. Let us remember that in manifestations of the supernatural, it is God’s timing that is lovingly perfect. Crossing the Red Sea? Go NOW!

“BEWARE OF SATAN APPEARING AS AN ANGEL OF LIGHT.” --JESUS CHRIST
Got it? Beware of the shiny, pretty angel putting on a light show. What’s one step beyond laser technology? The fallen and holy angels are already there; don’t get snookered.

See the link I provided at Post #20.

I’m getting this from research from theologian-exorcists, I’m not just making it up myself.

can satan perform miracles like preserving bodies.

how do you know satan didnt preserve the bodies of the some of the dead saints.
Yes, he can… the bible tells us MANY false prophets will be able perform great signs and wonders to fool the people, some even able to call down fire from the sky! So, Id bet if many false prophets are able to do such supernatural acts, Satan is likely the one ‘endowing’ them with these powers…in other words, these many false prophets were not born with any supernatural abilities, they were given to them at some point, by someone.

However, WHY God would allow Satan to have such powers is beyond me…furthermore, I think its very strange satan has ANY power or supernatural abilities, when he tried to literally overthrow Heaven and take Gods throne for himself…and God still allowed him SOOO much power…?? doesnt make sense to me, but Im assuming this was all in Gods overall plan.

Satan CANNOT perform miracles. Miracles are produced by God only! You really have to look at the definition of miracles which I gave in an earlier post.

I have my doubts that Satan can truly “heal” anybody or anything.
If, indeed, the evil one can appear to heal someone physically, then nightmares and other problems will come to the person who is so healed. (For example, Reiki)

A very good book not written in a sensationalist way is “Ransomed from Darkness” by Moira Noonan.
In it, she gives her testimony about being drawn into the occult, and how our Blessed Mother interceded and got her out of those lies.

Satan is on a leash; God allows satan to test us. If we follow Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life, satan cannot hurt us.

Matthew 24:24
24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.

Revelation 13:11-14
11 Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. 13 And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. 14 Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth.

I did not see it in specifically answered in your posts 16 or 30. What do you answer for the OPs question “how do you know satan didnt preserve the bodies of the some of the dead saints”?

Another equally interesting question is this: Are there people known to NOT be saints, whose bodies have been preserved incorrupt? Because if there are, then the preservation of the bodies of some saints cannot be said to be miraculous.

First of all: There is no Satan. There is just as much proof for a giant koala living on Neptune as there is for the existence of a Devil.

Second: In the Christian tradition: Satan is need not be the prince of darkness. Where in the Bible is there a depiction of a figure being cast out of heaven and at war with God. There is a Satan figure in the book of Job who functions as God’s sidekick, who works with God to torment and test that poor Job fella.

This is just your opinion, correct?

Luke 10:17-19
17 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” 18 He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

Revelation 12:7
Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.

Unless you or anyone else you know have seen this Satan dude, its more than a opinion.

  1. Then what was Satan doing just chilling with God in Job? Wasn’t he supposed to be cursed to wander earth on his belly from selling magic fruit to Adam? Why the devil can’t he stay still?
  2. Revelation speaks of a dragon, not satan. WHO knows what that is supposed to mean but the dude who wrote the book. For all we know it could have been Emperor Nero. (As some biblical scholars attest)

Does this mean that simply because you haven’t seen him, he cannot exist?

Well, I’m not sure from the way you phrase your question whether you are serious, but God spoke to the serpent - not necessarily to Satan himself. However, either way, the account of the Fall in Genesis may be allegorical and not literal in all of its details.

I see that you have a little bit of familiarity with the Bible. May I suggest that a lot more would benefit you greatly?

Not at all. Its just that the amount of concrete evidence in a big boogeyman who is immortal forces any openminded person to place the likelihood of the existence of satan in the same realm of possibility as say, an invisible llama named Terry.

Oh! So satan did not tempt adam! He had nothing to do with the fall. It was snakes! I am confused is satan the snake in your interpretation or not?

Wait? Genesis MAY be allegorical but Revelations is not? I am confused. Even the Bishops say you can’t read it without understanding the context in which it was written-that is roman persecution of Christianity at the hands of Nero.

The most you can say with certainty is that you know of no proof that Satan exists.

Did Jesus speak of Satan or the “evil one” during His public ministry?

If so, to whom was He referring?

What proof do we have that Jesus actually spoke those words? A book that was written 70 years after he died? So a guy in a book says a giant boogeyman exists? Do you believe in the characters from other ancient religions that were also attested to be real?

Jesus was crucified and rose again around AD 30. The earliest books of the NT were written around AD 50-55, so it wasn’t “70 years after he died”.

But you didn’t answer my questions, and you don’t have to be a Christian to know the answers.

  2. If so, to whom was He referring?
