Can Satan read minds?

I sometime hear people say that they become distracted during Mass because Satan put thoughts into their minds, but does not the Church teach that Satan does not have access to our Intellect
therefore he can neither read our minds or put ideas into it.I believe That one of St. Johns Epistles alludes to this, can someone answer this question?
